Location
Cabool is located in Texas County, the Ozark Heritage Region of southwestern Missouri. In road map terms, Cabool is 70 miles east of Springfield and 60 miles south of Rolla, at the junction of highways 60 and 63. This self-proclaimed "Gateway to the Old Ozark Watermill Trail" is only a few miles north of the rugged wilderness of the Mark Twain National Forest and the North Fork River County.
Population
Cabool's population as of the 2000 census is 2,168 which reflects an 8% increase from 2,006 in 1990. The population of Texas County has grown from 21,476 in 1990 to 23,003 in the year 2000. Cabool is the largest city in Texas County, the largest county in the state.
Climate
Cabool, Missouri enjoys the variety of all four seasons. Climate in the Cabool area ranges from 25 to 35 degrees in January, the coldest month, to 80 to 85 degrees in July. The maximum temperature in the summer is in the 90's. Temperatures below zero in the winter are considered extreme for this area. The average yearly snowfall is 3.5 inches and the average rainfall is 43.67 inches. Autumns in the Ozarks are spectacular with the brightly colored fall foliage. The springs bring a wonderful splash of color with the blooming of the native Dogwood and Redbud trees.
