Secondary Education

The Cabool R-IV School District encompasses approximately 250 square miles in Southwest Texas County and Northeast Douglas County, part of which is Mark Twain National Forest. The district is served by two major highways; US Highway 63 divides the district east-west and US HIghway 60 divides the district north-south.

The district's staff is composed of four administrators, 75 teachers, 6 paraprofessionals and 40 support staff members. There is little turnover in the professional and support staffs in the school district. The average number of years experience for teachers is 13.4 years and the average teacher's salary is $35,353.

The Cabool R-IV School District is a comprehensive K-12 school district with programs to meet the needs of all of the students in the district. Cabool R-IV Schools were totally accredited by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education during a Missouri School Improvement Program review in the Spring of 1997. The current district enrollment in grades K-12 is approximately 800 students. The enrollment of the district has been in the 850 range for the past ten years. The cafeteria provides a breakfast and lunch at the elementary, middle schools, and high schools. The free and reduced meal plans are also available for students who qualify.

Cabool High School has a comprehensive academic program and offers a wide range of classes in fine arts, practical arts, and physical education. Students may select either a vocational track or a college prep track including dual enrollment courses allowing them to earn college credits while still in high school. Cabool High School is an A+ school. Students who qualify may receive reimbursement for junior college, vocational or technical schooling at Missouri facilities after graduation. CHS offers a counseling program which services all students at risk of failing and/or dropping out of school. CHS offers numerous clubs and extracurricular activities to join.

Cabool Middle School educates fifth through eighth grades in core academics as well as physical education, art, music, and life skills. CMS has several clubs and service orgranizations. Seventh and eighth grade students may participate in extracurricular sports including football, volleyball, cheerleading, basketball and track.

Cabool Elementary School offers a comprehensive program from kindergarten through fourth grade in core academics as well as physical education, music, art, and library skills. CES uses the Read Well Reading Program, the Accelerated Reader Program and the Math Program. They also provide the Parents as Teachers Program and the Early Childhood Education Program for four to five year olds.

Post-Secondary Education

Drury University of Springfield has a satellite campus located in Cabool and offers courses Monday through Thrusday at the high school facility during the fall and spring semesters and has recently begun offering summer school classes.
